Q. I believe I am signed up for the upcoming CGFNS exam, but I have not received my permit. Who can I contact to verify this information?

A. You have two options:

You can email robert@rymek.com with your full name, date of birth, CGFNS ID number and the exam date you believe you are scheduled for. We will contact CGFNS and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
or

You can call CGFNS on their automated system at (international) 001+ 215-599-6200 or (domestic) 1-215-599-6200. This information can also be found on their website. You will need to enter your CGFNS ID and date of birth.

Q. What is the usual salary range for nurses working in the U.S.?

A. The salary range really depends on the city/state in which the nurse is working. But to answer your question, rates can range from $15/hr in a small town location to a high of $31/hr in a big city location. All salaries however are competitive and prevailing wages in all locations.

Q. I want to take the CGFNS, what should I do first?

A. Firstly, you should acquire either a CGFNS application or re-application form from our Davao office or from this website. You must have Adobe Acrobat 5.0 to be able to view it. You can download Adobe Acrobat 5.0 from here. Please follow the directions to download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Once you view the form(s), fill it out and submit to either our Davao office or send directly to us here in NJ with the appropriate enclosures.

Secondly, you should take a review class, which our Davao office can assist you in finding a suitable one. Their contact information is listed in the 'Contact Us' section of our website.

Please do not forget to enclose the corresponding payment ($295 for initial, $250 for retake) in a money order or bankdraft payable to CGFNS.

A. If you already have a Visa Screen Certificate, please email boyet@rymek.com or call up Rymek-NJ office for further instructions. You should do this immediately after receipt of the letter from the embassy.

If you do NOT have a Visa Screen Certificate yet, please call up the US Embassy Manila, and inform them about your status. Make sure to have your CASE# ready (the CASE# usually starts with MNL followed by a string of numbers)

Q. When should I take the TOEFL/IELTS?

A. You can take the TOEFL OR IELTS at the same time as the CGFNS exam, provided you feel you can handle it. You can download the TOEFL form by clicking here, but please keep in mind, that you will need Adobe Acrobat 5.0 to view it and print it. Otherwise, you can acquire one from the Davao office.

Q. Approximately how long must I wait until I can come to work for my sponsor in the US?

A. After we start the process, it takes approximately 18-24 months for the BCIS (formerly known as the INS) to finish the processing of your immigrant visa to the US. In some cases, processing can be finished in 12-18 months.  However, passing the CGFNS or the NCLEX (whichever comes first) is the key to having your paperwork endorsed to the lawyer and subsequently filed with the BCIS(INS). Your paperwork will not prosper until you can prove to the BCIS(INS) that you are a CGFNS or NCLEX passer.

Q. I took the last CGFNS exam you sponsored, what do I do next?

A. Upon receipt of said results please fax a copy to RYMEK in Davao at (082) 225-0156. We need your result to update our records and to update your sponsoring facility about the processing of your application.

If you passed, we will fax a copy of your result to the lawyer and your immigrant visa petition will begin processing immediately.

Q. I have failed the TSE several times. What do I do?

A. There is another test that is recognized by ICHP in lieu of the TSE. This is the IELTS. The difference between the two exams is that with the IELTS, there is a live person that conducts the speaking portion of the test, which may work to your advantage.  Additionally, the IELTS exam is an accepted substitute for both TOEFL and TSE.

Q. Can you just process me for an H1B working visa?

A. We do not process H1Bs for nurses. First of all, our sponsoring facilities are aware that approval of such petitions is not guaranteed as shown by the experience of other employers with H1B applications. Secondly, processing is so much more involved in terms of paperwork. Thirdly, filing and legal fees are much higher for this kind of petition. Lastly, the H1B is a temporary visa. It is valid only for three years although renewable. The nurse's spouse and children will receive H4 visas (dependents), which do not allow them to accept employment in the US or apply for social security numbers.

Q. Who will shoulder the interview fee at the US embassy?

A. The interview fee is also called the visa fee. The amount is $400 per person. The whole amount used to be paid at the embassy when the applicant went there for the visa interview. Starting last year, the payment was split in two: the first payment of $335 per person is paid to the US Department of State with the submission of Packet 3 to the INS. The balance of $65 per person is paid to the US embassy when the applicant goes for the visa interview.

The visa fee for the applicant is part of the package and is therefore paid for by Rymek. The visa fee for the applicant’s spouse and children, if applicable, is the responsibility of the applicant.

Q. I have a tourist visa to the US, can I have an adjustment of status to immigrant visa?

A. If someone comes to the US on a tourist visa, he or she must have been in the US at least 60-90 days before an adjustment of status application and work authorization request can be filed. Both of these applications would take 90 days to finish. That means one has to wait at least 150-180 days before being able to work legally as a nurse.

Q. Why did you send me the contract that I had signed with RYMEK?

A. The reason that we did that is because we know that all our recruits would like a copy of the contract that they had signed. It for your reference.
